Frequently Asked Questions For Full Body Vibration (FBV)
Is FBV safe to use?
Vibrant Health & Wellness FBV utilizes what's called "oscillating vibration technology", which is viewed as the safest form of vibration therapy. It can be used by almost anyone. It doesn't matter if you are a person who is physically fit, overweight, or one who rarely exercises. It doesn't matter if you have aches and pains and/or if you are recovering from an injury. Most people will be able to benefit from FBV therapy!
As with any new exercise program, it is important to consult with your doctor before beginning this program. If you have any known medical conditions, are pregnant, or have a pacemaker (or any other implant), please do not begin FBV therapy without the prior approval of your doctor.
What about every day use?
You can use the FBV machine every day, but it is recommended that you take one or two days off per week. This will give your muscles time to recover from the workouts. However, this would also depend on the intensity and duration of your workouts and your overall health and fitness condition. Once again, please consult with your doctor about how often you should use this machine.
Are all vibration machines the same?
No! Even though there are two common types of vibration movements, (Oscillating/pivotal & Linear/vertical) each type moves and feels different. See our Technology & History page (Linear verses oscillating) for a detailed description of the two common types and their differences. Our FBV machines are oscillating and have a gentle smooth feel. Some other manufacturers oscillation machines have a rough and motion sickness feel. It is extremely important to stand on a machine before purchasing to determine if the feel is what your body will like and accept. Vibrant Health & Wellness offers a 30 day money back guarantee to assure our customers that our machines will be right for them.
Can I use FBV while pregnant?
Full Body Vibration is not recommended during pregnancy.
Can I use FBV after a recent surgery?
Although vibration therapy has been beneficial in helping many patients during rehabilitation, it is recommended that your doctor be consulted first before undertaking this kind of program.
Will I lose weight while using FBV?
Because vibration technology causes an increase in lean muscle mass as well as metabolism, more calories are being burned. Therefore, weight loss is viable. However, it is recommended that you supplement your FBV training with cardiovascular exercises. This will produce the greatest possible loss of weight.
Can FBV help reduce cellulite?
Cellulite may be significantly reduced using Full Body Vibration. This is because FBV improves circulation and increases the body's ability to drain toxins and lymphatic waste. Swelling is then reduced in the areas that are affected by cellulite. Drinking plenty of water will also help in this process.
Is FBV beneficial to the heart?
Full Body Vibration is very beneficial to the heart. It actually raises the heart rate and blood oxygen levels slightly. Scientific data suggests that your overall heart rate will improve over time with continued use.
Will FBV help improve bone density?
Full Body Vibration has been shown to prevent and actually reduce "space induced osteoporosis" in astronauts. (Clinical studies are available.)
Will I perspire while using FBV?
Exercise causes an increase in body temperature as well as metabolism, so this may cause you to perspire.
Is FBV similar to a treadmill?
No, it is not. Oscillating vibration is a gentle workout that is easy on the joints. Unlike the treadmill, you don't do any walking. You simply stand and/or perform simple exercises on a movable, vibrating platform. This causes your muscles to contract while using your own body weight.
Can I use the FBV machine alone without exercise?
A supplemental cardiovascular workout is recommended along with the FBV program.
How long should each FBV session last?
A 10-minute session of FBV may be equivalent to a one-hour workout at the gym. Doing this every other day could provide great results. Depending on the speed settings and your overall health and fitness condition, you may be able to endure extra time and/or do multiple sessions in the same day. However, it is not recommended to spend too much time working specific muscle groups. As with conventional exercises, your muscles need a break. You may discuss this with your sales representative or contact our company for more information.
Is there a specific training schedule for FBV?
It is recommended that you start gradually -- no more than 5 to10 minutes in the beginning. This helps your body get used to this new form of exercise. Depending on your present health and fitness level, you should begin to see and feel results in about 2 to 6 weeks.
Do I have to do the supplemental exercises?
No, you do not. All the exercises demonstrated in our manual are functional positions that help to increase your overall fitness and strength. However, some people prefer to just stand on the machine. The choice is totally up to you.
How legitimate is FBV and who is using it?
A vast number of reputable organizations ranging from NASA, professional sports teams, major universities, gyms, fitness clubs, health and wellness centers, physical therapists, chiropractors, and so many other entities around the globe have used, accepted, and/or are using vibration technology today. There are numerous proven studies throughout medical journals in the United States, National Library of Medicine, National Institute of Health, and many other credible sources around the world.
